  • Overview

    At this level, you will provide technical support to our business unit, specifically in the area of voice communications systems and applications.  You will be responsible for performing routine to moderately complex maintenance and support on infrastructure including installation and maintenance support.

    Responsibilities

    • Establishes voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; installing telecommunications equipment, cable trays, and ladder racks; establishing connections; establishing connections and integrations; following industry standards; coordinating with other contractors.
    • Installs, terminates, troubleshoots and test CAT 5 and CAT 6 cables.
    • Installs, terminates, splices, troubleshoots and test copper and fiber optic cables.
    • Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains telecommunications equipment. Provides reports, completes requests for new service, and determines methodology for installing telephone service.
    • Installs, maintains, and repairs distribution racks, interconnecting and distribution cables, terminals, grounding, and wiring on a variety of communications systems.
    • Verifies service by testing circuits, identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
    • Accomplishes Preventive Maintenance Inspections on communication systems/infrastructure.
    • Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
    • Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions.
    • Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
    • Performs a variety of tasks.
    • Works under general supervision.
    • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
    • Responsible for the oversight and task management associated with the security and sustainment of the client’s physical and virtual infrastructure.
    • Occasionally may be required to provide support outside of normal duty hours for mission critical requests as needed.

    Qualifications

    Must have knowledge of:

    • The telecommunications system needs and requirements with voice and data.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures with regard to the installation, termination, splicing and testing of fiber optic cable.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures with regard to the installation, termination, splicing and testing of copper cable.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures with regard to the installation, termination, splicing and testing of CAT5 and CAT 6 cable.
    • Must have excellent problem solving and critical reasoning skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal communications, both oral and written research, and documentation skills.
    • DoD Secret Clearance is preferred but not required.
    • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required.
    • CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent needed to meet DoD 8570 requirements is preferred, but not required.
    • Proficient with the full MS Office Suite of productivity tools is preferred but not required.
